This lake house project chose SIPs as the primary building material due to its efficient envelope system that combines the structure, insulation, and exterior skin in one step, resulting in faster construction time. This allowed other trades to start earlier than expected.
The design features clean horizontal lines with a touch of Frank Lloyd Wright, including cantilevered porches and roofs. The home boasts a HERS index of 54, an HVAC system consisting of a water furnace 7 series geothermal unit, and windows with a U-Value of 0.250 and SHGC of 0.290. Additionally, the vaulted ceiling has an R-value of 40.0, while above-grade walls and foundation walls have R-values of 26.0 and 15.0, respectively.
